About

Jim Massey, Sr. opened his first Jim Massey’s Cleaners in Montgomery, Alabama in 1941. In 1964, Jim Massey, Jr. joined the company after graduating from the University of Alabama.

Between 1960 and 1969, Jim Massey’s diversified into men’s formalwear rental, women’s bridal shops, coin-ops, and uniform rental.

In 1977 we sold the uniform rental and by 1979 we had phased out all coin-ops. In 1980 Jim Massey, Jr. became President and CEO of the company. In 1986, we purchased Tant and Tant Formalwear in Birmingham, Alabama.

We added drycleaning to the operation and expanded Tant and Tant from 4 stores to 9 stores and then sold them in 1989.

Jim Massey, Jr. was joined by Jim Massey, III in 1987 and John Massey in 1990 after they graduated from the University of Alabama.

We moved into our current 50,000 square foot central plant in March of 1996. The large facility allowed us to expand into the textile restoration industry. In 2000 we opened the country’s first franchise of CRDN (Certified Restoration Drycleaning Network). Our franchise covers Central Alabama.

In 2010, Jim Massey, III and John Massey were awarded the titles and responsibilities of President and Vice-President respectively.

Locally, we serve twelve drycleaning stores, 2 home delivery routes, and 4 tuxedo stores. At our Auburn Tux Shop, we carry a full line of prom and pageant dresses.
